How to Save Posts or Links on Facebook


Sometimes a very good post appears on our Facebook timeline, whether it is a recipe or a tutorial and we want to keep it for future reference or just keep to read later. Facebook allows us to save posts or links in order to easily find when you want to see it again.


It is very difficult to find if you let it roll on your timeline, although you can use the improved Facebook search, still, it will not give you the exact post you are looking and keep scrolling down just to find the post is not a good idea.

How to Save Posts or Links on Facebook

Saving posts, videos, or links are all the same, when you save a shared website link, it appears “Save Link” when it is a video, it appears “Save Video” if it is a Facebook post, it appears “Save Post”, so it depend if it is a post, video or links but the procedure are the same.

1. Saving on Mobile (Facebook App)

  • Open the Facebook app on your smartphone.
  • Find the post or link you want to save (it could be a shared link, article, photo, or video).
  • Tap the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the post.
  • Select “Save Post” or “Save Link” from the menu that appears.
    • The post or link will be saved to your “Saved” section, where you can view it later.

2. Saving on Desktop (Facebook Website)

  • Open Facebook.com in your browser.
  • Find the post, link, or video you want to save.
  • Click the three dots (•••) in the top-right corner of the post.
  • Select “Save Post” (for general posts) or “Save Link” (for links to articles or external sites).
    • The saved item will be added to your “Saved” section on Facebook, which you can access anytime.

Tip: Once saved, Facebook often gives you the option to “Add to Collection”. This allows you to organize saved posts into different folders (e.g., “Recipes,” “Travel Ideas,” or “Articles to Read”).

How to Access Your Saved Items on Facebook

1. On Mobile App

  • Open the Facebook app.
  • Tap on the menu icon (three horizontal lines) at the bottom-right (iOS) or top-right (Android).
  • Scroll down and tap on Saved. This section will show you all the posts, links, videos, and more that you have saved.
  • You’ll see your saved items organized into Recent or Collections (if you’ve created collections).

2. On Desktop (Facebook Website)

  • Go to Facebook.com and log in if you haven’t already.
  • In the left sidebar, scroll down and click on Saved (under the “Explore” section).
  • This will open your “Saved” page, where you can view all saved posts, links, and videos, sorted by date or collection.

How to Organize Saved Items in Collections

Facebook allows you to create Collections to organize your saved items by topic or interest. Here’s how:


1. Creating a Collection

  • Go to the Saved section as described above.
  • Tap Create Collection (on mobile, this option may appear as New Collection).
  • Name the collection something relevant (e.g., “Recipes,” “Books to Read,” “Home Inspiration”).
  • Once created, you can start adding relevant posts or links directly into this collection.

2. Adding Saved Items to Collections

  • After saving a post, Facebook may prompt you to Add to Collection right away.
  • Alternatively, go to the Saved section, find the item you want to organize, and select Add to Collection. Choose the collection where you want it to go.

3. Moving Items Between Collections or Removing Them

  • Go to the Saved section and find the post you want to move or remove.
  • Tap Move to Another Collection or Remove from Saved. Removing will delete the item from your saved list, so do this only if you no longer need the item.

Extra Tips for Managing Saved Items

  • Notifications: Facebook may send you a reminder to view saved items if they’re time-sensitive, like event reminders.
  • Organize Regularly: If you save many items, organizing them into collections can make them easier to find later.
  • Search Saved Items: In the “Saved” section, there’s a Search bar that lets you find saved items quickly by keyword.
